Jakarta, CNN Indonesia — The national police monitors the online sales of antibiotics. During the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, the public often use antibiotics. National Police Public Relations Director and Inspector General Argo Yuwono said that the monitoring was conducted to predict whether there will be shortages and price games for sellers.
“The National Police is monitoring the purchase and sale of antibiotics from online vendors, “Argo said in a written statement on Monday (5/7).
Argo said that not only online sales, but also supervision is carried out directly in pharmaceutical factories and distribution channels. The measure aims to prevent hoarding and sales from exceeding the maximum retail price rule set by the government.
“Today, pharmaceutical companies are also monitoring, including their distribution channels,” Argo said. Prior to this, the Chief of the National Police Listyo Sigit Prabowo also issued a telegram with the number ST / 1373 / VII / H.U.K / 7.1. / 2021, which contained five points.
One of them is the monitoring of compliance by all parties in the implementation of the emergency PPKM and the control of the HET of drugs during the Covid-19 pandemic. Another point is to strictly enforce the law, prohibiting commercial actors from hoarding and selling drugs above HET, making it difficult for people to obtain medicines and medical equipment.
Additionally, strict enforcement of actions (including spreading false news / hoaxes) that hamper all government efforts to respond to the Covid19 outbreak. In this regard, Komjen Agus Andrianto, head of the Criminal Investigation Team of the National Police, stated that his political party will take firm action against those who accumulated medicines and medical devices during the implementation of the emergency PPKM.
“Do not let medicines and medical equipment be supplied, do not take the opportunity, we will take firm actions and those that hinder the government’s efforts to respond to the Covid-19 pandemic,” Argus said in a statement on Sunday (4/7).
