Indonesia National Police Ready to Secure ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo

IndonesianatPolice – National Police Chief Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo conducted a review of security readiness at the ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). One that is being reviewed is the command center.

The Indonesian National Police Chief explained that this command center was needed to monitor all activities during the ASEAN Summit, starting from the airport to the event location. The National Police Chief further emphasized that disasters and weather will also be monitored through the command center.

“We check one by one regarding the existing facilities, the command center can monitor the public who come, both foreign and local guests,” explained the National Police Chief in a press conference, Wednesday (3/5).

A total of 91 Polri Command Centers which are deployed at various strategic points which are the operational control centers related to the entire series that will be carried out.

The National Police Chief said that the Command Center also checked the existing facilities one by one starting from how the Command Center could detect people arriving, be they foreign guests or local people including their identities and data on ships and owners.

The National Police Chief stated that traffic engineering will be implemented during the ASEAN Summit (Summit) in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) on 9-11 May 2023.

Traffic engineering will make Labuan Bajo residents uncomfortable. Nevertheless, this is necessary for smooth traffic in Labuan Bajo during the ASEAN Summit.

“We, the police, will carry out traffic engineering and divert traffic flow. For the inconvenience to the disturbed community, we ask for understanding,” said the National Police Chief at a press conference in Labuan Bajo, NTT, Wednesday (3/5).

The National Police Chief further emphasized that his party together with relevant stakeholders will routinely carry out evaluations to ensure that there are no obstacles that occur during the implementation of the ASEAN Summit.

“All activities related to the ASEAN Summit are expected to run well,” he said.
