Indonesian Police – The Directorate of General Crimes at Bareskrim Polri revealed two cases of international criminal Human trafficking in persons (TPPO).
The first network is Indonesia, Yemen, Jordan, Saudi Arabia. Then secondly, the network of Indonesia, Türkiye, Abu Dhabi.
The first case was uncovered when Bareskrim Polri received a report from the Indonesian Embassy regarding indications of victims of trafficking in persons, this report was followed up by naming five suspects namely MA (53), ZA (54), SR (53), AS (58) and R (38) .
The Director of General Crimes (Dirtipidum) Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Djuhandhani Rahardjo Puro, said the modus operandi was carried out by the suspect by promising the victims to work in Saudi Arabia with a salary of 1,200 Riyals per month.
“The recruitment process was not in accordance with procedures, so the victim departed with a tourist visa, was temporarily accommodated in Jordan, waiting for a visa to enter Saudi Arabia,” Djuhandhani said at the National Police Headquarters, South Jakarta, Tuesday (4/4).
For the second case, investigators uncovered the human trafficking case through the Indonesian, Turkish and Abu Dhabi networks.
Djuhandhani said that this case was uncovered from information from the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore, which received a report.

The report contains neglect of Indonesian citizens in Singapore. Based on this report, the police arrested OP, one of the suspects in Bali, on March 30, 2023.
To investigators, OP admitted to launching a mode for victims by promising decent jobs in Turkey.
However, in practice, OP first asks for some money from his victims under the pretext of the cost of flights abroad, in the amount of Rp. 15 million to Rp. 40 million.
When the victim believed and paid some money, the victim was flown to Singapore. However, there the victims were abandoned.
“In Singapore they were abandoned and then found by migrants in Singapore, then handed over to the Indonesian Embassy,” said Djuhandhani.
Now the suspects are being charged with multiple articles starting from Article 4 of Law 21/2007 concerning the Eradication of the Crime of Trafficking in Persons which carries a maximum prison sentence of 15 years in prison, and a maximum of IDR 600 million, Article 81 of Law 18/2017 concerning Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI) , Article 86 letter B Law 17/2017 concerning Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers.
