INP Bust Illegal Smuggling of Buffalo Meat from Malaysia to Pontianak

Indonesian Police – INP on Dit Tipideksus Bareskrim has uncovered a case of illegal buffalo meat smuggling from Malaysia to Pontianak, West Kalimantan. The smuggling was carried out through sea and land routes.

Karopenmas Div Humas Polri Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan stated that three people with initials ES, E, and M were arrested during the operation.

“They smuggled the buffalo meat using a certificate of fish and domestic fishery products (SKIPB) document, claiming that the commodity was squid,” said Ramadhan on Wednesday (15/2).

“However, the content inside the container was different, namely buffalo meat originating from Malaysia,” he added.

The suspects used containers owned by PT HJ and shipped them through the Maremas Voi 77 vessel to Jakarta, which were later transported to Pontianak.

“The evidence seized by the authorities includes 5 mobile phones, a letter of request for leasing a container under the name of ES, and two containers containing 1,426 cartons of buffalo meat,” he said.

The perpetrators carried out the smuggling activities in an organized and routine manner, using various methods, including changing the labels on the packaging of the buffalo meat.

The police will continue to develop the investigation and gather further information about the smuggling network.

“We will continue to work with relevant agencies to address this smuggling case. We also urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to smuggling to the authorities,” concluded Ramadhan.
