Indonesia Police – Bogor – National Police Chief Jenderal Listyo Sigit Prabowo explained the Police’s strategy in mitigating inflation in Indonesia, due to global economic turmoil which has an impact on uncertain situations.

This was conveyed by the National Police Chief while speaking at the National Coordination Meeting of Regional Heads and Forkopimda entitled ‘Strengthening Economic Growth and Controlling Inflation’ at SICC Sentul, West Java, Tuesday, January 17 2023.

“Police colleagues are facing a situation of global economic turmoil. We have a mitigation strategy that must really be carried out,” said Sigit.

Sigit revealed that the police must ensure the availability and price stability of basic commodities. Guarding the state budget as a shock absorber, strengthening investment and downstreaming the industry as well as maintaining the domestic market.

Finally, said Sigit, police personnel must work together with the TNI and all parties to maintain security and public order (sitkamtibmas).

“And finally, the stability of kamtibmas is a prerequisite because we really have to maintain it, especially since we are entering a political year,” said Sigit.

Going deeper, Sigit also instructed all ranks in the territory of Indonesia to provide assistance to Regional Governments (Pemda) regarding the use of the budget.

“It is often a problem that there are doubts regarding the use of available funds in the regions. I ask colleagues, especially the task force and friends who are involved in it, to really provide assistance in terms of using the budget,” said Sigit.

Sigit explained, the use of APBN and APBD is one that is expected to turn the wheels of the economy apart from investment. Remember, if absorbed properly, it will increase Indonesia’s economic growth by 1.6 to 1.7 percent.

“Both general allocation funds, special allocation funds and others. Make sure it can be absorbed. If the President asks for more than 90 percent, how can you do it so that the rounds in the regions can run,” said Sigit.

Therefore, Sigit stressed, all police personnel must provide professional assistance so that there are no doubts in absorbing the existing budget.

“I remind you not to be part of the problem. We guide. Be the right one to assist the Regional Government. So that there are no more doubts about using existing funds,” explained Sigit.

On the other hand, Sigit is also pushing for increased use of domestic products (P3DN) by utilizing and improving existing e-catalogs.

According to him, there needs to be good collaboration between Law Enforcement Officials (APH) and the Government Internal Supervisory Apparatus (APIP). So, at the beginning of this year all planning can be immediately carried out.

“It is very important so that there are no doubts and it can really be absorbed properly. Of course, problems can be solved, including one if you need a written product to determine the legal basis for using the budget, and even that can be done,” concluded Sigit.
