Indonesia Police – Jakarta – The National Police are still coordinating with legal authorities in the United States regarding the arrest of the suspect in the case of blasphemy and hate speech, Pastor Saifuddin Ibrahim. Until now he has not undergone legal proceedings because he is in the United States (US).
“Of course what we have done is synchronization, including legal synchronization between American and Indonesian authorities. Later this process is still ongoing, we will convey it later,” said Karo Penmas Divhumas Polri Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, Tuesday (10/1/2023).
Ramadhan said that his party would convey the results of the synchronization between the National Police and law enforcement in the US. “Communication with the American authorities has not reached police to police. But our Interpol authorities have police to police, yes,” he said.
Previously, Bareskrim Polri named Saifuddin as a suspect in the alleged blasphemy case. Head of Public Relations Division of the Indonesian National Police Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo confirmed Pastor Saifuddin Ibrahim’s status as a suspect on Wednesday (30/3).

This case began when Pastor Saifuddin Ibrahim made a fuss by asking that 300 verses of the Koran be deleted and revised. According to Saifuddin, these verses teach violence and terrorism.
Pastor Saifuddin Ibrahim also called Islamic boarding schools a source of terrorism. The request circulated through a viral video.

“Because the source of the chaos is from an incorrect curriculum, even the curriculum at the Islamic boarding school, sir, don’t be afraid to change it. You examine it, change the teachers, because the pesantren gave birth to radicals,” said Saifuddin in the viral video.
