Operasi Lilin 2022 Christmas Security and 2023 Successfully Implemented

Indonesian Police – Jakarta – Kakorlantas Polri Inspector General Pol Firman Shantyabudi revealed, overall the implementation of Operasi Lilin 2022, security for Christmas 2022 and New Year 2023 are running according to the target of being safe.

“In general the target is to achieve a situation of security, safety, order and smooth traffic (kamseltibcarlantas) both towards toll lanes, tourist attractions and places of worship all of which can be said to be safe and orderly,” said Inspector General of Police Firman Shantyabudi at the NTMC Korlantas Polri Building, South Jakarta, Tuesday (3/1/2023).

Firman also said that during the Operasi Lilin 2022 there were no prominent toll road accidents during the  Operasi Lilin 2022. However, on the arterial route there were quite a number of traffic accident incidents that were in the spotlight.

“There are still two-wheeled motorized vehicles that dominate this accident. For prosecution of accidents, fines rose 37 percent, warnings rose 24 percent. But we are trying to be persuasive, in the last two months we have approached it with e-tickets,” he said.

As for the death toll, Firman said the number of fatalities has decreased compared to Nataru in 2019 (before the COVID-19 pandemic). Noted, the number of victims who died fell by 40 percent, seriously injured by 19 percent and minor injuries by five percent.

“I need to say that in this increasing number of accidents, what stands out is single accidents, maybe due to fatigue or other factors, one of which is wanting to get to their destination quickly,” said Firman.

As is known, the National Police began carrying out Operasi Lilin 2022 on Friday, December 23, 2022 to January 2, 2023. The operation, which was held for eleven days, was carried out throughout Indonesia.
