Kapolri and Panglima TNI Observe the Christmas Mass at the Cathedral Church

Indonesia Police – Jakarta – National Police Chief General Police Drs. Listyo Sigit Prabowo, M.Sc. Together with the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, Admiral Yudo Margono, visited the Cathedral Church in Jakarta to review the implementation of the Christmas Mass, Saturday (24/12/2022).

Accompanying the National Police Chief is Deputy Chief of Police Komjen. Pol. Prof. Dr. Drs. Gatot Eddy Pramono, M.Si and Kapolda Metro Jaya Inspector General. Pol. Dr. Drs. H. Mohammad Fadil Imran, M.Sc.

Upon arriving at the location, the National Police Chief together with the TNI Commander immediately entered the Cathedral Church building and wished all the congregation a Merry Christmas.

“As the National Police Chief, I wish a Merry Christmas to all my dear brothers and sisters. Merry Christmas in 2022,” said the National Police Chief while congratulating the congregation on Saturday (24/12).

Sigit revealed that Indonesian President Joko Widodo had instructed the TNI-Polri to work optimally in providing a sense of security to the public throughout the Christmas and New Year celebrations (Nataru).

“According to the President’s directives, the implementation of Nataru must run safely and smoothly,” said Sigit at the GPIB Immanuel Church, Central Jakarta, Saturday, December 24, 2022, evening.

The TNI-Polri, said Sigit, are continuing to follow up on President Jokowi’s directives regarding the security of Nataru. According to Sigit, since long ago, the synergy of the two institutions and related stakeholders has made maximum efforts in order to secure places of worship and monitor homecoming flows.

In fact, the TNI, Polri and other related parties have carried out a call to deploy troops in order to ensure that the entire Nataru security chain runs peacefully without any disturbances.

“Starting this afternoon, I think all ranks together between the TNI and Polri have deployed troops to ensure that all worship activities have been carried out and can run safely and smoothly,” said Sigit.

Regarding security at the church, Sigit stated that the TNI and Polri also work together with other community organizations such as Banser NU and Kokam Muhammadiyah and other mass organizations that are helping.

Sigit also appreciated the synergy of these community elements. According to him, this reflects the high value of tolerance and mutual respect among religious communities in Indonesia.

“On the other hand, this shows the value of religious tolerance which of course we must always protect. Of course, we must maintain the spirit of unity and oneness. To get to a better future for Indonesia,”

With a joint commitment between the Government, TNI, Polri and elements of society, Sigit believes that the entire Nataru series will run safely, comfortably and peacefully for all citizens.

On the same occasion, the TNI Commander also wished all the congregations who attended a Merry Christmas.

“We on behalf of the TNI soldiers wish you a Merry Christmas, and thank God that this year we can celebrate Christmas more than last time, of course because after COVID,” said the TNI Commander.

It is known, the Jakarta Cathedral Church is holding a mass for the 2022 Christmas celebration with a congregation capacity provided for Christmas celebration services of more than 2,000 or 50 percent of the maximum capacity.
