Jakarta – The National Police through the International Relations Division (Div Hubinter) have repatriated 34 Indonesian Citizens (WNI) victims of trafficking in persons in Cambodia. Dozens of these Indonesian citizens were repatriated to their homeland on Monday 12 to 14 December 2022.
Kadiv Interpol Polri Inspector General Krishna Murti revealed that this repatriation was carried out with Interpol Indonesia’s NCB Ses Brigadier General Amur Chandra. This repatriation was carried out after coordinating with the KRI, the repatriated Indonesian citizens were those who were in the Poypet area.
“Coordinating with the Indonesian Embassy and the Cambodian Police in order to monitor the process of moving 34 non-procedural Indonesian citizens currently in the Poypet area. Coordination is carried out with the Defense Attache and Protkon Function of the Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh,” said Krishna in his statement, Friday (16/12/2022).
Krishna said that this repatriation initially departed from the Poypet area to the Phnom Penh area on Monday morning December 12. The departure of dozens of Indonesian citizens was carried out using a bus escorted by Deputy Chief of Police Poypet.
“The Indonesian citizens will be transferred to the Ministry of Home Affairs office in Phnom Penh for further purposes,” said Krishna.

On Tuesday 13 December, coordination was carried out with the Defense Attache of the Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh Col. M. Rizal in preparation for the examination of 34 Indonesian citizens from North Sulawesi Province who were already in Phnom Penh.
“In the coordination, it was discussed about the technical examination that would be carried out by North Sulawesi Regional Police investigators,” said Krishna.
Furthermore, Ses NCB Interpol Indonesia also made a courtesy call to the Indonesian Ambassador to Cambodia Sudirman Haseng. The meeting discussed the results of coordination regarding the MoU between the National Police and the Cambodian Police regarding the crime of trafficking in persons which are often reported by Indonesian citizens in Cambodia.
Krishna also conveyed that more than 10 thousand Indonesian citizens work in Cambodia (Sihanoukville, Poypet and others) only a few have problems.
“The hope is that the MoU can be followed up soon to be signed,” said Krishna.
According to Krishna, problems arise for Indonesian citizens who cannot work well in companies. This created problems for the companies there. In addition, the company also reported that the worker caused trouble just because he wanted to return to Indonesia for facilitation.
“This problem is like an iceberg that must be resolved both upstream and downstream,” said Krishna.
The 34 Indonesian citizens who have been repatriated come from different regions. The 34 Indonesian citizens came from Manado 5 people, 22 people from Tomohon, 6 people from Minahasa, and 1 person from Palembang. They were all sent home in good health.
