7000 Personnel Secures G20 Summit in Bali

Bali – The National Police have alerted 7,000 joint personnel to secure the summit of the G20 summit which will be held in Bali in November.

Assistant Operations to the National Police Chief, Inspector General Agung Setya Imam Effendi said security for the G20 Summit was carried out from the National Police Headquarters to the regional level at the Bali Police, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) and East Java Police.

“With the number of plotted personnel as many as 5,746 personnel and reserve members who are ready to operate around 1,600,” he said in his written statement, Tuesday (27/9).

Agung said that his party had also prepared a number of other equipment in the context of securing the G20 Summit such as secdoor, X-Ray, special vehicles (ransus), ships, and helicopters.

In addition, a number of escort vehicles and electric vehicles have also been prepared to make the G20 implementation a success. Security will be carried out by the National Police in five main areas located in Bali.

“We prioritize the 5 areas of Seminyak, Sanur, Jimbaran, North Nusa Dua, and South Nusa Dua,” he added.

The National Police have also identified potential disturbances and threats at the G20 Summit. The identification was carried out starting from the arrival of the delegation until the time the activity was held.

According to him, the disturbance team has also anticipated the potential for disruption of natural disasters and attacks that look like terrorism and those that don’t look like cyber attacks.

He ensured that his party also synergized with Paspampres, TNI, BNPB and other stakeholders related to security in order to secure the G20.

“We have also prepared a Command Post at the ITDC (command center) for coordination of all relevant stakeholders,” he added.

The 17th G20 Summit will be held in Bali on 15-16 November 2022.

The Summit was the culmination of an intensive process and effort throughout the G20 workflow (Ministerial Meetings, Working Groups, and Engagement Groups).

The G20 members consist of South Africa, United States of America, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, India, Indonesia, United Kingdom, Italy, Japan, Germany, Canada, Mexico, Republic of Korea, Russia, France, China, Turkey and the European Union.
