Jakarta – The Indonesian National Police (Polri) revealed the chronology of the suspected terrorist SU, who was shot dead by the Anti-terror Detachment 88 in Sukoharjo, Central Java. At the time of his arrest, SU was already a suspect.
“Before the arrest, the status of SU’s brother was a suspect in a criminal act of terrorism, not a suspect,” said Karo Pemas of the Public Relations Division of the Police Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan in an online press conference, Friday (11/3/2022).
Ahmad explained the series of events that caused the SU terrorist suspect to die on the spot. The arrest took place in the Sukoharjo area, Central Java, on Wednesday (9/11) at 21.15 WIB.
At the time of his arrest, said Ahmad, the police had introduced themselves and intended to detain him on the street. However, SU did not immediately stop the vehicle.
“During the arrest, officers tried to stop the vehicle being driven by the suspect. And the officer has introduced himself, and stated the intent and purpose, “said Ahmad.
SU fought aggressively against the police who wanted to arrest him. Ahmad said SU tried to ram his car into the police who tried to stop him.
“Knowing that his car was stopped by officers, the suspect fought back aggressively by crashing his car into the officer who was stopping the suspect,” he said.
Ahmad said his party was still trying to communicate with SU by climbing the back of the suspect’s car. Knowing this, SU is suspected of deliberately driving by swerving left and right with the intention of harming the officers.
“The suspect continued to drive his car and drove fast and shook the steering wheel left to right or zigzag, with the aim of bringing down the officers behind,” he said.
