Polri Explained The Vacancies of Cooking Oil at Small Retailers

Jakarta – The National Police’s (Polri) Food Task Force checks the availability of cooking oil at modern and small retailers in Jabodetabek. The Food Task Force found vacancies in cooking oil stocks at small modern retailers such as Indomaret and Alfamart.

“In small modern retailers, such as Indomaret and Alfamart, the majority of availability of cooking oil is empty,” explained the Directorate of Economic and Special Crimes (Dirtipideksus) Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) Polri Brigadier General Whisnu Hermawan Februanto, S.I.K., M.H., Monday (7/2/2022).

Dirtipideksus Bareskrim Polri said that small modern retailers sell cooking oil according to the HET, which is Rp. 14 thousand per liter. He said that distribution in small modern retail is done every 2-4 days.

“The distribution is carried out every 2-4 days, the selling price follows the HET of Rp. 14,000 per liter,” he explained.

According to him, the delay in delivery from distributors and the high enthusiasm of the public to buy cooking oil at a price of Rp. 14,000 per liter is the main cause of vacancies of cooking oil stocks at the small modern retailer.

“The cause of the stock vacancy is due to the late delivery of cooking oil from distributors and the high enthusiasm of the public to buy cooking oil. To control it, the purchase is limited to 1 liter per person,” he explained.

He said that the stock of cooking oil at large modern retailers is still sufficient and is sold according to HET.

“The public choose to buy cooking oil at modern retail, because the price has followed the government’s policy, namely according to the HET of Rp. 14,000/liter, which is cheaper than the price of traditional markets,” he said.

He also said that further inspections would be carried out on traditional markets in the Jabodetabek area. He said the Food Task Force would coordinate with the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag).

“Checking and monitoring the availability, distribution, and price of cooking oil in traditional markets in the Jabodetabek area,” he said.
