Support Densus 88 Arrest Terrorists, MUI: No Islamophobia and Criminalization of Ulama

Secretary of the Counter Terrorism and Terrorism Agency of the Indonesian Ulema Council (BPET MUI) Secretary M Najih Arromadloni supports the position of the Counter Terrorism Detachment of the Indonesian National Police which carried out the arrests of suspected terrorists.

“MUI supports and appreciates the performance of Densus 88 in fighting radical terrorism,” Najih said at a press conference at the Police Public Relations Division building, South Jakarta, Thursday 25/11/2021.

Najih stressed that in Islam or in any religion radicalism and terrorism are absolutely not allowed. Najih said Densus 88 carried out its duties well. Therefore, he argued that arresting suspected terrorists was not a form of criminalization or Islamophobia. “We believe that there are no allegations of criminalization of ulama or Islamophobia because the state’s interest is maintaining security, maintaining the security of the population, and in this case, let us give support and appreciation,” said Najih.

Investigators from the detachment bearing the owl symbol arrested three suspected terrorists in Bekasi, West Java, on Tuesday, November 16, 2021. They were Farid Okbah, Ahmad Zain AnNajah and Anung AlHamat. Islamic community.

The condition of the three people are also suspects. They are charged with Article 15 in conjunction with Article 7 of the Terrorism Criminal Act Number 15 of 2018.
