Police: There are 28 BAP Strengthening the Involvement of 3 Bekasi Terrorist Suspects in the JI Network

JAKARTA – The Special Detachment (Densus) 88 Anti-terror Police arrested three suspected terrorists in Bekasi, West Java. The three suspected terrorists are Farid Okbah, Zain An-Najah, and Anung Al-Hamat.

Head of the Public Information Bureau of the National Police’s Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono, revealed that the Densus had 28 Investigation Reports (BAP) of suspected terrorists who had been arrested. The BAP stated that the three suspects in Bekasi were involved in the terrorist group Jamaah Islamiyah (JI).

“There are 28 minutes of examination of suspects and expert statements as well as documents that lead to the suspect, namely, FAO, AZA and AA,” said Rusdi at a press conference at the Police Public Relations Building, South Jakarta, Wednesday (17/11/2021).

Of the 28 BAP suspects previously arrested by Densus, two of the suspected terrorists, namely Farid Okbah, Zain An-Najah, were involved in the Baitul Maal Abdurrahman Bin Auf Amil Zakat Institution (LAZ BM ABA).

It is known, LAZ BM ABA is an institution that is used as a fundraiser by the Jamaah Islamiyah group.

“In the organization, the suspect is AZA as chairman of the sharia board of the Baitul Maal Amil Zakat Institution (BM ABA). Then FAO, as a member of the sharia board,” said Rusdi.

Meanwhile, Anung has a role as the founder of the Shield. Shield is a legal entity created to provide assistance to members of Jamaah Islamiyah who are caught by the police.

“An agency was created to provide legal assistance to JI members caught by Densus as well as to provide family assistance to members of the JI group who were arrested,” said Rusdi.

Therefore, said Rusdi, the arrests of three suspected terrorists in Bekasi, had a solid basis and evidence.
