Merdeka.com – In an effort to secure Indonesian territory from dangerous goods, Customs and Excise in collaboration with the Police have again succeeded in uncovering various acts of smuggling methamphetamine in various areas with a total weight of 27 kilograms during the period of July 2021.

The disclosure of the first case was the result of the collaboration between Customs and the Jakarta Metro Police against the illicit traffic of 1032 grams of methamphetamine on the Zimbabwe-Jakarta network, on Thursday (15/07) afternoon. One Indonesian citizen with the initials R hid the narcotics in a package sent from Zimbabwe.

Action is carried out by a joint team after checking the package, and developing the findings to the recipient’s destination address. When the officers were monitoring the location, the actor with the initials R was seen approaching a freight forwarding car and then handing over the goods. The team then secured suspect R with evidence in the form of a package containing 1032 grams of methamphetamine.

Then, the disclosure of the second case was the result of the collaboration between Customs and Excise and the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Department against the illicit traffic of 10 kg of methamphetamine from the Congo-Jakarta network, on Friday (23/07) night, and arrested two perpetrators (initials A and S alias ER) under the modus operandi of hid methamphetamine in a porcelain figurine that was shipped from Congo to Indonesia via cargo shipping.

The prosecution was carried out after the joint team developed findings on a cargo package containing narcotics. When officers visited the destination address of the recipient of the goods around the South Kembangan area, West Jakarta, it was observed that a man with the initials A approached the freight forwarder and then handed over the goods with an undercover officer.

The joint team then arrested suspect A with evidence in the form of two boxes containing 20 small packages of crystal powder in brown plastic wrap with a total weight of 10 kg. From the results of the interrogation, perpetrator A was ordered to receive the package by S alias ER, a resident of Cipinang Prison. So, on Saturday (24/07), thanks to the help of the Cipinang Headquarters, the team managed to secure suspect S alias ER in Cipinang Prison. Based on S’s description, he ordered goods from Mr. Boy (foreigner from a country in Africa).

Continuing to carry out surveillance, the Customs team and Polda Metro Jaya again uncovered cases with a similar mode of 16kg of crystal methamphetamine from the South African-Jakarta network, on Friday (30/07) night, and arrested two Indonesian perpetrators with the initials DO and FS.
The chronology of the prosecution began with the officers’ identification of the cargo package in the form of statues of various shapes resembling animals sent from Mozambique, South Africa, which upon inspection, contained 16kg of methamphetamine in the statues.

From the results of the investigation process in the field by submitting evidence under controlled delivery, at around 20.00 WIB the team managed to arrest the recipients of the package, namely suspect DO and suspect FS in the Bekasi area with 16kg of confiscated methamphetamine evidence.

All the results of the prosecution of these three cases have been followed up by the investigative team to complete the case and develop an investigation to dismantle the narcotics network. [hh]
