National Police Chief, General Police Listyo Sigit Prabowo, conducted a review of Operation Ketupat 2021 in Pejagan, Brebes, Central Java, Sunday (9/5/2021). In this review, the National Police Chief was accompanied by the Chairman of the DPR Puan Maharani, TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya and Minister of PUPR Basuki Hadimuljono.
The National Police Chief said that the overall implementation of Operation Ketupat 2021 by carrying out homecoming insulation went well. He admitted that the homecoming isolation did make people uncomfortable.
“However, this is done to protect the public from contracting the new variant of the COVID-19 virus,” said Sigit.
According to him, the duty of the police is to maintain the security and safety of the community. For this reason, he asked the public to understand the policy of prohibiting homecoming so that COVID-19 cases would no longer increase.
Furthermore, the former Head of Criminal Investigation of the National Police said that the vehicle blocking was carried out by adding an examination of the driver’s health protocol.
“The lockdowns are also carried out in hotels and tourist attractions so as not to spread COVID,” he said.
The former Banten Police Chief also expressed his gratitude for the understanding of the community and the hard work of members in the field who played an active role in suppressing the spread of COVID-19.
