Elderly Vulnerable to be Exposed to Corona B117, Vaccines Help Form Antibodies

Surabaya – The new Corona B117 virus, which has entered Indonesia since Wednesday (3/3), is now the center of attention. The age group susceptible to exposure to the Corona B117 virus is the elderly over 60 years.

The Head of the Corona Research Team and Vaccine Formulation from the Professor Nidom Foundation (PNF), Prof. Dr. Chairul Anwar Nidom, explained the reasons why the elderly are susceptible to being infected with this new virus. According to Nidom, this age group is due to the fact that the organs in the body have decreased in function.

“So when he is infected by a virus, the organ’s activity is no longer optimal. So people over 60 years the list of diseases and complaints are growing. So it is more vulnerable to the old age group, “said Nidom when contacted by detik.com, Sunday (7/3/2021).

However, this can be prevented with the COVID-19 vaccine which is currently still running. This is because the ability of the elderly to produce good antibodies is considered to be lower.

“Sometimes there are thoughts that are not very effective. But it turns out that more elderly people are afraid of death. That’s why it is encouraged to be given all vaccines that can help form antibodies. Finally, what was changed for only 59 years, the same vaccine can be used for older people, “explained Nidom.

Unlike the case with young people, they can fight viruses with good antibodies. Especially if you have been injected with the vaccine, because the ability process can deal with weak diseases.

“Therefore it is encouraged for vaccines. “Vaccine metabolism in the body can run well, because the organs are still running well,” he said.

“But if people are already 50 or more than 60 years old, that is the ability of the organs in the body’s metabolism, especially the formation of low antibodies. That’s why they often get sick and so on, “concluded Nidom.
