There is a Virtual Police, the National Police wants the public to be educated in social media

JAKARTA – The National Police ensures that the presence of a virtual police, initiated by the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, does not limit people who want to speak out in the digital space. The National Police only conducts educational efforts through the virtual police if there is a potential for criminal offenses in social media.

“First, with regard to virtual, I don’t think we are restraining. We don’t limit. Wong, everyone can say it is okay, “said Head of Public Relations of the National Police, Inspector General Argo Yuwono to reporters at the National Police Headquarters, Thursday (25/2/2021).

Inspector General Argo explained that the virtual police will give a warning if someone makes writing or images on social media that lead to crime. According to him, the police provide education instead of curbing it.

“Only, if it leads to crime, what do you think? Can we not tell? If we still receive it, do it right away or not? We have efforts to make education, “he said.

Therefore, Argo expects the role of the community to remind each other. Argo said it was not only the police who worked in this matter.

“So, apart from the police, other people should also be able to educate their friends as well. So it’s not just left to the police. For example, another group can be the leader. So together we inform that with this virtual world so that it is clean, there will be no slander, ridicule, and so on. And the police will see, there are experts involved. If that includes criticism, it doesn’t enter. We have the experts, ”said Argo.

“Through the virtual police, the police provide education and notification that what is written is a criminal offense, please don’t rewrite it and delete it,” he continued.

Furthermore, Argo said the virtual police also functioned to reduce hoaxes or post truths in cyberspace, so that events from reporting to each other would not happen again.

“Hopefully, with the virtual police, it can reduce hoaxes or post truths in cyberspace. Society can be corrected if they make a writing or picture that can make other people displeased and to avoid reporting each other, “said Argo.
